Welcome

The PA Giving Pledge

The nonprofit sector touches the lives of every Pennsylvanian. Schools educate our youth, hospitals care for the sick, the arts inspire us, museums preserve our history, human service agencies help those less fortunate, and churches nourish our souls. All this, and much more, is supported by thoughtful philanthropy.

In 2010, Warren Buffet and Bill Gates launched The Giving Pledge, a national movement to increase charitable legacies. The PA Giving Pledge builds upon this effort by specifically encouraging Pennsylvanians to include a charitable bequest in their estate plans.

Transfer of Wealth Study

A Transfer of Wealth Study prepared by The Center for Rural Pennsylvania estimates $418 billion will be transferred from one generation to the next in the next ten years. The PA Giving Pledge encourages Pennsylvanians commit at least 5% of their wealth to support our nonprofit sector.

If successful, The PA Giving Pledge will generate nearly $21 billion for local nonprofits in the next decade.
